Assignment #1
What is media?
Media is different ways of getting information out in the world like t.v, magazines, internet, newspaper, radio, etc.
What's your favorite form of media?
My favorite form of media is television because it has everything. Fashion, News, Celebs Gossip, etc.
What medium do you use the most?
I use the internet often, i find everything on it. Youtube is like a second television to me. I go on msn messenger to talk to friends, research on different topics and many other things.
Where does media make itself visible in your life?
Billboards/Advertisements are everywhere i go, on buses, in the metro, while driving to place, is stores etc.
What is the impact of media on our society?
People pretty much believe everything they see on the news. Many trust advertisements also which isn't always true because its mostly a scam like for example mascara commercials, there are a million of them that "extend" your eyelashes which is BS.

Class Question/ Idea #1
1. it [Media] captures the imagination of random people and brings you into a world that is controlled by the media.
The media that captures myself and many other girls is pictures of models, weights loss pictures, advertisments on products, being perfect, skinny and beautiful, being flawless etc. I know it bring many people and not only myself into a world that you have to look like this and dress like this etc. I think its very brainwashing for those who get influenced easily. This also leads to many girls becoming anorexic or bullimic. Girls becoming obsessed with losing weight, going on diets and starving themselves. This controls on how girls looks at eachother, it causes competition and does lead to many deaths. This media is very psychological and strongly plays with the mind.
Girls should be happy with what they have, we are all beautiful in our own ways. Being beautiful doesn't mean you have to be skinny and look perfect all the time. What counts the most is what you have inside. Personality stays, beauty fades.
Integrated Project
The general idea I have for the integrated project is going to be done with pictures. My idea on the media message is on peace and love. It connects to many organizations such as Peace Campaign, The Canadian Peace Alliance (CPA) etc. I am going to be using Picasa and taking many different pictures on that subject, using people, signs ect.
Stereotype
I chose a picture of Bob Marley because he's very well knowns and represents Jamaica. He is a well known role model and a very talented musician. This image is very often stereotyped as all jamaicans smoke weed, the all listen to reggae and everyone has dreadlocks. I believe this is not true because i've hear and seen it before and as for myself i have serveral jamaican friends who is in fact opposite of this. When they get introduced by people or meet people thats ask for nationality, those people
